History of the Music Box
The discovery made by Antoine Favre from Geneva around 1796 is still in use in Brienz, 200 years later. The principle of vibrating steel slats has remained; the production of the individual mechanical works however, containing over 1000 parts, has continuously been developed and improved. Through the use of traditional and modern material, production and refining techniques, tone quality and tone volume, as well as functional aspects of quality, could be improved in the end.  Machines and apparatus used today in Brienz for the production and checking of mechanical works correspond with the latest development of technology and guarantee mechanical works and sound machines of unique quality in the natural combination of fine mechanics and the art of the goldsmith.  Together with our staff and our clients, we have developed a standard of quality with the producer of the works as well as with the installation of the mechanical works into the music boxes, which allows us to track all defects back to their origin.
Behind The Scene
Sound Pieces made of Wood, Glass and Metal      JOBIN Music has mastered the knowledge on how to produce music boxes with a well-rounded sound and perfect reproduction melody.  We produce our hand-made, artistic products with industrialized precision and reliability according to the newest technology and modern environmental standards.  Thanks to the conscious use of combinations and strengths of material, each music box is given its own unique and characteristic sound.  In collaboration with internationally reputed designers and with antique music boxes from our own collection, we are able to offer our clients some new and exclusive items year after year.                            Since the beginning of music box production in Brienz and Geneva, music boxes have been decorated with lovely paintings and artistic woodcarvings.  Today still, we use these traditional techniques, which make a unique object out of every music box, no matter how inconspicuous it may be.  Our employees carve and paint the desired decorations on the prepared music boxes with a sure hand.
